DESTINATION MEDELLIN

When Pro Colombia contacted me and ask that I visit Medellin, I cannot lie - I was nervous, and questioned my safety, if I was to go.

Like many, I have only known Medellin to be the home of drug cartels, Pablo Escobar, and was the murder capital of the world.  It was so bad, life expectancy was only 16 years!

Over 416,000 people were murdered and/or are still missing from that very dark period of Medellin's history, and until now it was my belief it was still just as bad.

I could not have been more wrong.  Medellin is a vibrant young city, that has overcome it's past, and has begun building toward the future.

The people are working hard to put that past behind them, and working to become a world class leisure travel destination.  You talk to the people there now and they are excited for the future, and they have so much they want to share.

As mentioned, the city is young - and those working to grow the city are young as well.  The city is positioning itself to welcome the 20 to 30 somethings, as well as the single crowd.
